GENERAL NURSING CARE AND CANCER CARE

Home nursing visits arranged in collaboration with patients, their medical team and families to provide assessments, treatment, teaching, symptom management, and coping strategies.

PALLIATIVE CARE

The NOVA team helps by providing support, symptom management and comfort to local patients and families during this difficult time thus enabling the patient to remain home in familiar surroundings as long as desired.

FOOT CARE

Proper foot care prolongs mobility and independence. This program provides hands-on foot care, helping those with decreased vision, diabetes, arthritis, circulation problems and other conditions that cause difficulties in maintaining foot health.

FAMILY SUPPORT

Caring for a loved one can be emotionally and physically exhausting. We can recommend home caregiver(s) who will assist with personal care. We have a loan cupboard with a variety of specialized medical equipment such as electric beds, wheelchairs, walkers, commodes etc. We have volunteer drivers to transport patients to and from treatments and medical appointments.

ADULT DAY CENTRE

The NOVA Hudson Adult Day Centre provides a safe and pleasant environment for persons needing to stay mentally and physically fit.

The Adult Day Centre offers an opportunity for frail, elderly, disabled or cognitively impaired adults to make friends and be stimulated.

The centre is designed to provide respite for family caregivers and to support and maintain client’s health, ability and independence.

In a warm, friendly, ‘club-like’ environment, the personnel and volunteers coordinate activities such as exercise classes, card, word and number games, reminiscence activities, cooking and baking, communal outings, pet therapy, music therapy and crafts.

The program is designed to incorporate all five senses as well as working on fine and gross motor skills.

Special attention is paid to the unique needs and situation of each individual.

The Nova care team includes a program coordinator, a registered nurse, a nurses aide and volunteers.
